Vegan Flatbread

This vegan flatbread is quick, easy, and delicious. Use it as naan bread, to make quick pizzas, or add filling to make a wrap. Made with simple, vegan ingredients.

To make flatbread, combine the following dry ingredients.

2 cups flour

2 tsp baking powder

Pinch salt

Mix thoroughly, then add:

2 tbsp olive oil

2/3 cups soy milk, plus a bit more if needed so dough comes together.

Mix well and knead for a minute or two until dough is smooth.

Take a small piece of dough, no more than 1/4 cup, and smooth into an even ball. Roll the ball of dough out very thin using a rolling pin. It works well to roll between two silicone baking sheets so the dough does not stick to the rolling pin. Make the dough as flat and thin as possible.

Pre-heat a frying pan on medium heat. Cast iron works well because it heats evenly. Place the flat piece of dough in the hot frying pan (the pan should be dry or only lightly oiled). Cook for about a minute and then flip and cook the other side. The flatbread should be browned and cooked through. Be careful not to over cook and burn the flatbread.

The finished bread makes delicious vegan flatbread pizzas, pitas, or naan bread.

To make flatbread pizzas, top the flatbreads with any type of sauce, such as tomato sauce or curry sauce. Add vegetables and bake for 5 minutes. This is a very quick way to make pizza. The flatbread is simple and delicious.
